Keeping Underwater In Operational, All Year Round

Generally Metals aren't the best things to put underwater as you may have discovered, but did you know that the entire undersea network of pipes are all made of metal and are very reliable even after decades of use and underwater presence. How do you think is that possible? Well there is a simple solution to that - maintenance.  Regular checks are carried out in pipeline by trained engineers and that is enough to keep the pipeline Tapping functioning perfectly under the harsh conditions underwater.

Water is Bad for Metals - Salt Water Is Five Times Worse!

Any metal placed in water or even highly humid conditions triggers anaerobic corrosion. Salt water corrodes metals five times faster than fresh water and considering that it's the sea there is no avoiding the salt in it. That alone is worse but wait there is more!

Bacteria grow freely in salt water and attach on metal surfaces. Bacteria releases hydrogen and when it comes in contact with metals it becomes even more detrimental to the integrity of metal structures. Incidentally the content within these metal pipes is so sensitive that spills are undoubtedly going to be catastrophic for the environment as you may have seen in the past with horrific leaks spillages that destroyed entire ecosystems overnight.

It is therefore very necessary that the pipelines are maintained in the best way possible to keep it from being attacked by salt water and bacteria growth. And such crucial service pipelines cannot be taken off operation for obvious reasons so the only way to repair is by continuing to keep the services operational under all circumstances. This is where hot tapping services come in.
